Goodnight Children Everywhere part 2

Our second exhibition in collaboration with National Trust Rainham Hall was a great success with almost 300 visitors in just ten days, here's a selection of images from our group project worked around a Morrison Shelter to our individual work.
The work for this exhibition was inspired by the wartime nursery at Rainham Hall, we took it a step further researching into this period both locally, nationally and into our own family histories.
We were inspired by the memories that many visitors shared with us of their experiences, some of them wrote these memories down for us and we hope to use these in another art piece in the future.

Goodnight Children Everywhere!

Although the Material Girls will be stewarding this exhibition every day we thought it would be extra special if we were all there on Sunday 24th September so that you can meet the ARTISTS.  Our exhibition has free entry as it's in the Hayloft (above the cafĂ©) and not in the main National Trust House. Hope to see you there!

Essex Life have an article in their Art Review September addition about this exhibition!and our exhibition at Loughton Art Centre.  It's a shame there's no link to our sites though......

the journey starts here.......

For the Material Girls next adventure with the National Trust we are leaving behind John Harle and the 18th century and exploring the 1940s when Rainham Hall was requisitioned as a children's nursery. Our exhibition at the Hall in September will be inspired by wartime childhood so research has commenced with a trip to the  V&A  Museum of Childhood at Bethnal Green.

A Busy Time

All our work (except for one piece) has been removed from National Trust Rainham Hall ready for the instillation of their new program which will be in place ready for the spring opening in March.

The Material Girls will still be involved in the house as Beverley's 'Will' remains in the room with John Harle's original Will. In the meantime we are working on our next body of work for the Hall due to be exhibited at the Hall later in the Summer!

If you missed our 'WITH THE COMPLIMENTS OF JOHN HARLE' at National Trust Rainham Hall it's not to late the Exhibition is moving to Havering Museum, Romford, Essex 29th March - 8th July 2017.

This is a busy year we are currently working on our upcoming exhibition at Essex Wildlife Trust- Ingrebourne Valley - Hornchurch Country Park 29th April- 1st May 2017. In the meantime here is a very edited image of Margaret's work in progress.
